I think we can risk our life for our job when what we do is meaningful, if we can save people while doing it.
People can think that the role of journalists is less important than policemen, firefighters or doctors’ roles.
In fact, policemen and firefighters put themselves in dangerous situations to save people and doctors hold the lifes of other people on their hands. People think that their work is valuable and that they have reasons to die for their jobs.
As far as journalists are concerned, some of them aren’t going to countries which are at war and can be dangerous or don’t reveal something that can change people’s life. I think we can say that, in those cases, we can’t die for the job of journalist.
When joutnalists who go in dangerous places so that people can be aware of what happened around the world or reveal something like corruption (the Watergate for example), I can understand that they can die for give truth to people.
